The public broadcaster of Serbia, RTS, confirmed participation to Eurovision 2019. The selection process will again be Beovizija. The winner will be chosen with the same way as last year: 50% juries and 50% public votes. The national selection has been broadcasted since 2003 and the winners have represented the country in Eurovision – two times for Serbia and Montenegro and four times for Serbia.
The broadcaster has now opened the submissions and will remain open till November 1. The songwriters and the artist will be anonymous. Then a committee will evaluate the songs and will shortlist them. The final it’s expected to be broadcasted somewhere in February.
Serbia, as an independent country, has competed since 2007. Has only won once, on its debut with Marija Šerifović and her song Molitva. But has also competed as part of Serbia and Montenegro and Yugoslavia.
Last year the country was represented by Sanja Ilić and Balkanika with the song Nova Deca. They came 19th in the final with 113 points. In the video below you can watch their performance.
