Tonight, at 19:30 (GMT) Britain will decide who’s gonna be its next representative at Eurovision. For the fourth consecutive year, the country will use a national final for its selection – Eurovision: You Decide. Like 2018, Måns Zelmerlöw will co-host the final along with Mel Giedroyc.
This year, 6 artists will battle for the title with three different songs. Michael Rice and Holly Tandy, both of them will sing their edition of “Bigger Than Us”. Jordan Clarke and the trio MAID will sing “Freaks”. Finally, Karrie-Anne and Anisa will sing “Sweet Lies”. It is noteworthy, that “Bigger Than Us” is co-written by John Lundvik, the third placer of Melodifestivalen 2018.
The United Kingdom In 2018
U.K. finds it difficult in the recent years to score in the top 10 of the Final, the last being in 2009. Although, Blue came close finishing at 11th place out of 25, back in 2011. Last year, the country represented by the talented SuRie with her inspirational song “Storms”. The song came 24th out of 26 acts. However, we have to admit that SuRie gave her own battle, after a stage invader took her microphone, in the middle of her song. SuRie waited for the police to take the man in custody and then continued singing missing about 10 seconds of her appearance. EBU of course, proposed to the UK delegation to sing again, after the last act, but they denied, they were proud of the outcome. Here is SuRie’s performance from the Jury show (without the invader):
