Tonight, the third semi-final of Melodifestivalen, Sweden’s national selection, will be live from Leksand. Seven acts will try to win one of the two tickets for the Final. Those who will finish third and forth they’ll have a Second Chance on 2nd of March.
Five of the seven artists have previously participated. The only newcomers are The Lovers of Valdaro and Rebecka Karlsson.
The Lovers of Valdaro
The duo will open the night with their song Somody Wants. The two artists won the radio talent show P4 Nästa. The winner of this show wins a spot in Melodifestivalen every year. Their song is co-written by Thomas G:son.
The girl band Dolly Style is coming to Melfest for its third time. They have previously attempted in 2015 and 2016. Although none of the original members is still in the group. This year, their song is titled “Habibi”.
Martin is also a Melodifestivalen expert. He has participated three more times. In his debut back in 2005, actually won the contest and represented Sweden in Eurovision. He finished 19th with the song “Las Vegas”. He also participated in 2014 and 2016 without making it to the final.
The Alcazar member is trying solo this year. She has participated in 2009, 2010 and 2014 as part of Alcazar, in 2002 with her sister and in 2003 solo. This year, her song is titled “Victorious”.
Another one artist trying solo this year is Omar. In 2017 made his debut as part of the boyband FO&O. Now he is coming back with the pop song “Om om och om igen”.
The young singer makes her debut this year in the contest. In 2009, at the age of eight, she competed in the Swedish version of Got Talent. She tried again in 2014 but her dream stoped in the Semis. In 2016 she participated in Swedish Idol and finished second.
Jon Henrik Fjällgren
Jon Henrik Fjällgren has participated two times in the past, both of them made it direct to the final. The first time in 2015 he finished second and in 2016 he finished third. Now is back for the gold with the song “Norrsken”.
