Austria this year chose Pænda as its 2019 representative. Pænda or Paenda was born on 25th of January 1988, at Styria, Austria. Her real name is Gabriela Horn. From a young age, she learned how to play the piano and the guitar. At the age of fourteen, she started writing songs.
In 2008 she moved to Vienna to study music at Vienna Music Insitute, from where she graduated in 2013. Her studies were on pop and jazz music. Pænda first steps in the industry came in 2015 when she participated in the German music tv show “Popstars”. Sadly, she didn’t reach the final after she was eliminated two shows before.
In less than a month – 26th of April 2019 – Pænda will release her second album entitled “Evolution II”. The album will contain her Eurovision entry alongside with nine more songs. Her entry is called “Limits” and like all her songs it is composed by herself. The song is about pushing herself beyond her own limits for music, to the point of exhaustion.
Austria performs in the first half of the second semifinal.
