This year Azerbaijan will be represented by Chingiz. Chingiz or Chingiz Mustafayev was born on 11th of March 1991 in Moscow from Azerbaijani parents. At the age of six, he moved with his family in Qazax a small city in Azerbaijan.
From a young age, he learned to play the guitar and he started composing his own songs. When he was thirteen he moved to the capital of Azerbaijan, Baku, with his mother and his brother.
His first steps in the industry began when he participated in the Azerbaijani version of Pop Idol in 2007. He won the competition and gained a lot of attention. His Eurovision attempt isn’t the first time he represented his country. In 2013 he competed in the New Wave festival in Latvia on behalf of Azerbaijan. Three years later, he took part in the Ukrainian edition of The Voice. Sadly he was eliminated in the Battle Round. Earlier this year he released a single entitled “Tǝnhan Gǝzǝn” which reached number 7 in his country’s charts.
His entry “Truth” was composed by Borislav Milanov, Chingiz Mustafayev, Trey Campbell, Pablo Dinero, Hostess and Joacim Persson.
Azerbaijan performs in the second half of the second semifinal.
