
This year, Norway is represented by KEiiNO. KEiiNo is a three-member group that was formed in 2018. The members are Tom Hugo, Alexandra Rotan and Fred Buljo.
Tom Hugo Hermansen or simply Tom Hugo was born on 27th of October 1979, in Kristiansand, Norway. He is a singer and has written songs for many artists across Europe and Asia. He has also made some hits as a singer in Norway and in Germany. Songs of Tom has been sung by well-known K-Pop supergroups. Tom has taken part in MGP (Melodi Grand Prix) – his Norway’s national final – in 2013 and 2018.
Alexandra Rotan was born on 27th of June 1996 in Råholt, Norway. In 2010 took part in the junior version of MGP. Her song reached the superfinal. After a couple of years, in 2016, she took part in the Norwegian version of Idol, where she was eliminated in the semifinal. Alexandra also took part in last year’s MGP alongside Stella Mwangi (Norway 2011) and finished third.
Fred Buljo was born on 6th of February 1988 in Kautokeino, Norway. His full name is Fred-René Ørergård Buljo. He is a Sami Norwegian singer that focuses on Norwegian folk sounds and jolk. He came into the public’s attention in 2008, when he participated in Norway’s got talent and reached the final. After his participation, he made live appearances throughout Scandinavia and Russia. Except for singing, Fred has also been keen on political affairs. From 2013 to 2016 was a representative in the Sami parliament in Norway.
KEiiNO’s entry is a mixture of pop and Norwegian folk. The group has explained that their song is inspired by the struggles of people groups to get equal rights. The title “Spirit In The Sky” was selected due to the Sami belief that nature gives you strength in times of struggle.
Norway performs 15th in the second semifinal.
