Artist Profile: Russia 2019 – Sergey Lazarev

This year, Russia is represented by Sergey Lazarev. Sergey was born on 1st of April 1983, in Moscow, Russia.

When Sergey was young he practised artistic gymnastics. At the age of 10, he started acting and singing. By the of 14, he had already won his first award. In 2006 he was a contestant on the Russian version of Dancing On Ice and finished second. Two years later, he competed once again in a show named Circus Of The Stars finishing first.

The singer represented Russia back in 2016, with the song “You’re the only one”, finishing first in the televote, but only third after all, behind Ukraine and Australia. His song then was produced by the Dream Team – P. Kirkorov, D. Kontopoulos – and the choreography will be by F. Evangelinos, the same with this year’s entry.

Sergey will be the second artist that returns for Russia. Dima Bilan is the first (2006, 2008). Dima came second in Athens and then won in Belgrade at his second attempt.

Russia performs 13th on the second semifinal.
