This year, Slovenia is represented by the duo Zala Kralij and Gašper Šantl. The duo is also referred to as ZalaGasper and was formed in 2018 in Maribor, Slovenia.
Zala is the vocalist of the duo and Gašper is a multi-instrumentalist. He started playing the guitar at a young age. Since 2018, they have released three singles. Their debut extended play was released earlier this year on February.
Their style is mainly indie-pop, lo-fi songs, something that is obvious in their Eurovision entry “Sebi”, which means “Oneself”. The song is entirely in Slovenian, like last year.
The duo won easily EMA 2019 – the Slovenian national final. At the first round of the competition, ten acts performed and a jury panel chose its two favourite songs. Zala Kralj & Gašper Šantl along with Raiven performed again their songs. The public voted and the duo won with almost 73% of the votes.
Slovenia performs 5th in the first semifinal.
