A couple of hours ago, the second day of rehearsals came to an end. The rest of semifinal’s 1 acts rehearsed at the Expo Tel Aviv.
The day started with the rehearsal of Belgium. Eliot gave us perfect vocals and a nice choreography with clear moves. Although I have my concerns about the outfit, which was not the style I was expecting. The graphics were simple and the staging… well I have to admit that my OCD cannot understand why the drums aren’t an even number!
The Caucasian country made a great effort on its first rehearsal. The song it’s style an average song, in my opinion, however, the staging was good. The backing vocalists were fine and the graphics fit perfectly. Oto looks a little bit angry throughout the song but still is a great effort. I’m not sure yet if it’ll qualify but definitely has more chances.
And… I’m speechless! Australia made it again this year. First of all, Kate Miller-Heidke nailed the vocals. The staging was by far better than the national selection! The graphics are amazing and the outfits are just what I expecting. The song was one of my favourites from the very beginning of this season and this performance made me love it even more.
Hatari kept the formula that had in their national final. The staging is enlarged in order to fit in the Eurovision stage. The BDSM style was as expected and the vocals balanced perfectly between the two lead singers.
Estonia… let’s start by the fact that Victor’s vocals were good. On the other side, the staging was simply ok. I think that the song has many potentials but it good easily lost in the night.
Let me admit something first, Conan’s song isn’t my favourite one this year, not even in my top-20! I understand that many really like it, but I’m not one of them! Now… Conan changed his outfit, which in my opinion is better than the national selections, but its darker and with the colour of the background – dark red – I don’t like it very much! The vocals are good and the choreography stayed the same.
Ellada, chora tou fotos… (Greece 1993)! The Greek appearance today, remind me why Greece achieved so many top-10 places last decade. Katerine’s appearance had everything amazing graphics, perfect vocals and choreography and memorable outfits. The pink colour of the background was something I expected from the video clip. Everything was fine for the first Greek rehearsal. Is noteworthy that the lack of staging last year, in my opinion, was one of the main reasons why Yianna failed to qualify, so I was thrilled to see the small garden the greek team made for us!
San Marino 🇸🇲
Serhat was just Serhat… and its the best at it! I love San Marino’s appearances because they dare to think outside of the box! Serhat hasn’t got Celine Dion’s voice, but he knows how to use his own and it’s more important. The staging was happy and the song is memorable and catchy. I hope this year will see San Marino for the second time in the grand final.
That was my opinion about the last 8 rehearsals of the first semifinal. Tomorrow, the first nine countries of the second semifinal – Armenia, Ireland, Moldova, Switzerland, Latvia, Romania, Denmark, Sweden and Austria – will perform their songs for the first time on the Eurovision stage.
