Friday’s Quote – Germany 1982

Our quote today is from the German entry of 1982. That was the first victory for the country 27 years after its debut. The selected entry was “Ein Bißchen Frieden” by Nicole.

Nicole was born in 25th of October 1964 as Nicole Hohloch. When she was 17, she won the national selection of Germany “Ein Lied für Harrogate”. The song managed to get 5116 points almost 800 points ahead of the runner-up.

The song is composed by Eurovision-legend Ralph Siegel and the lyrics were written by Bernd Meinunger. On the night of the final, Germany won for the first time in its history with 161 points, 61 points ahead of the runner-up Israel.

Ein bisschen Frieden, ein bisschen Sonne

Für diese Erde, auf der wir wohnen

Ein bisschen Frieden, ein bisschen Freude

Ein bisschen Wärme, das wünsch ich mir

The quote is in German as it’s the rest of the song. That translates to “A bit of peace, a bit of sunshine, for this earth on which we’re living, a bit of peace, a bit of joy, a bit of warmth, that’s what I wish for”.
