Friday’s Quote – Iceland 1999

Our quote today is from the Icelandic entry of 1999. The selected entry was “All out of luck” by Selma – the most appropriate song for Friday the 13th.

Selma was born in 13th June 1974 – not a Friday ūüėõ – in Reykjav√≠k, Iceland. Her full name is Selma Bj√∂rnsd√≥ttir. Selma participated two times in the contest. The first time in 1999, her song “All out of luck”, finished second, 17 points behind winning Sweden. That is, along with the 2009 entry, the best result of the country. Her second attempt came in 2005, with the song “If I had your love”. Sadly, she was all out of luck, finishing 16th in the semi and therefore not qualifying for the final.

Their Eurovision song was composed by Sveinbj√∂rn I. Baldvinsson, √ěorvaldur Bjarni √ěorvaldsson and Selma herself.

You’re all out of luck, if you wanna give up
You’ve got to let go of all your bad memories
Breakin’ it up means bringing it down
You need to get right back on track

The quote is in English as it is the rest of the song.
