We continue our new series of weekly posts with something from the early 2000s. The year was 2004 when Belgium was represented by Xandee with the song “1 Life”. Sadly, her song finished 22nd out of 24 competing entries in the final with 7 points.
Xandee
Xandee was born in 18th of December 1978, as Sandy Boets. She is a Belgian singer from the Flemish region. When she was 16 she formed a duo along with Serge Quisquater, named Touch of Joy. Her singing genres are pop and R&B.
Fun Fact: Serge’s band – Sergio & The Ladies – represent Belgium 2002, finishing 13th out of the 24.
The song was considered favourite to win, but her performance wasn’t as expected. Many fans, thought that her performance was flat. The song has become classic, over the years and let’s be honest it’s catchy!
