Our quote today is from the Israeli entry of 1973. The selected entry was “Ey Sham”, meaning “Somewhere” by Ilanit.
Ilanit was born on 17th of September 1947, in Tel Aviv. Her real name is Hanna Dresner-Tzakh. Her parents moved to Israel from Poland. In 1973 she represented her country to the Eurovision. Today is one of the most popular singers in Israel having recorded and produced more than 200 songs and over 30 best-selling albums! That was the very first Israeli participation to the contest.
Her song finished 4th. A couple of years later, in 1977 she represented again Israel with the song “Ahava Hi Shir Lishnayim” finishing 11th. She was also the participation of the country in 1984, but Israel didn’t compete. At the 2019 Eurovision, she sang at the opening of the grand final.
Her Eurovision song was composed by Nurit Hirsh, the lyrics were written by Ehud Manor. Nurit Hirsh was also the conductor of the live performance.

The quote is in Hebrew as it is the rest of the song. In English it is translated to “Tonight my house is wrapped by the winds, holding it from every side, we fly beyond the clouds, hand holding hand”.
