Our quote today is from the Cypriot entry of 1995. The selected entry was “Sti Fotia”, meaning “In The Fire” by Alex Panayi.
Alex Panayi was born on 24th of June 1970, in Nicosia, Cyprus. He is an established artist in his country. He had studied in Boston at Berklee College of Music and while he was studying he met a variety of professional musicians.
He had participated two times as a lead singer in Eurovision representing Cyprus. At his first attempt, in 1995 he sang “Sti Fotia” and in 2000 as part of the duo Voice with the song “Nomiza”. He has also been part of many country’s delegations. His most recent Eurovision participation was in 2018 as vocal director for Azerbaijan, Belarus and Moldova.
His Eurovision song was composed by himself. Giorgos Theophanous was the conductor of the live performance. The song placed 9th with 79 points.
