Sweden: Melodifestivalen 2020 – Guide For The Final!

After a long party that lasted six weeks, tomorrow is the finale of Melodifestivalen! A total of 28 acts were presented in four semifinals across Sweden and after the second chance round, we are down to the top-12 entries of this season! The Participants

  • Victor Crone

Victor is familiar both with Melodifestivalen and Eurovision. In 2015, he teamed up with Behrang Miri and competed to Melfest with the song “Det Rår Vi Inte För”. The song made it to the Second Chance but knocked out by Samir & Viktor. Last year, he competed in Eesti Laul – the Estonian national final – with the song “Storm” and won it. Therefore, he represented the Baltic nation into the Eurovision. In Tel Aviv, he placed 20th in the final.

  • Paul Rey

Paul is the second who will make his debut tonight. He started singing from a young age. In 2015, he signed a contract with an American music company and in 2017, he released his single “California Dreaming”, which features Snoop Dog and Arman Cekin. His entry is titled “Talking in My Sleep”.

  • The Mamas

The Mamas is a band consisting of three women. The group isn’t unfamiliar with the national final. Last year, the Mamas were the backing vocalists of Melfest’s winner John Lundvik. Therefore, they have also sung in Tel Aviv (Host city of Eurovision 2019). The song “Too Late For Love” placed 5th in the final of Eurovision. This year, they will sing solo. Their entry is titled “Move”.

  • Mohombi

Mohombi tonight will compete for the third time. He made his debut in 2005 and returned to the contest last year with his song “Hello”, finishing 5th. This year will sing his song “Winners”!

  • Hanna Ferm

Hanna is participating for the second time in a row! Last year, she debuted to the contest but not alone. She sang the song “Hold You” along with Liamoo. The duo managed to place 3rd in the final. This year she returns to the show solo with the song “Brave”.

  • Méndez feat. Alvaro Estrella

Méndez is familiar with the contest. He has participated a total of three times, all of which reached the final. His most recent participation was in 2018. However, this year will team-up with Alvaro Estrella. Alvaro, debuted in Melodifestivalen in 2014, with the song “Bedroom”. His song finished 7th in its semi and therefore didn’t reach the final. Is noteworthy that, Alvaro has been the backing vocalist and dancer in several Eurovision entries for Sweden. More recently, he was one of Robin Bengtsson’s dancer, in 2017.

  • Dotter

Dotter is trying for the second time in the contest. She made her debut in 2018, with song “Cry”, but she was eliminated in the semis. In 2019, she released along with Måns Zelmerlöw the song “Walk With Me”. The song was also performed live at the second chance of Melodifestivalen, the same year. Her entry is titled “Bulletproof”.

  • Robin Bengtsson

The winner of the 2017 edition is back with the song “Take a Chance”. Robin debuted at the contest in 2016 with the song “Constellation Prize”. The year after, he won the national final and represented Sweden to Kyiv, Ukraine. At Eurovision, he finished fifth.

  • Mariette

Mariette this year will compete for the fourth time. In the past, she had competed in the 2015, 2017 and 2018 editions of the contest. Up today, she has managed to always qualify directly to the final and finish in the Top-10. Before her Melodifestivalen’s appearances, she was best known for competing in the Swedish version of Idol, in 2009. Her song is titled “Shout It Out”.

  • Felix Sandman

Felix debuted to Melfest in 2017 as part of the boy-band FO&O. Their song finished 11th in the final of Melodifestivalen that year. In 2018, he tried solo and he almost won, finishing 2nd even though he was qualified through the second chance round. In 2019, he starred in the Swedish Netflix series “Quicksand“. His entry is titled “Boys With Emotions”.

  • Anna Bergendahl

Anna is returning for the third time to Melfest. She made her debut in 2010, with the song “This Is My Life”. The song won and therefore she represented Sweden to Eurovision. Sadly, she didn’t manage to qualify to the grand final of Eurovision – the only Swedish entry to do so. Last year, she came back to the contest. Her song “Ashes To Ashes” finished 10th. Later, in Summer she released her single “Home”. Her entry this year is titled “Kingdom Come” and is composed by Bobby Ljunggren, Thomas G:son, Erik Bernholm and Anna herself.

  • Anis Don Demina

Anis Don Demina, debuted to the national final last year, along with Zeana and the song “Mina bränder”. Is noteworthy that he also appeared playing the saxophone during Samir’s and Viktor’s appearance to Melodifestivalen in 2018. His entry this year is titled “Vem e som oss”.

Who Will Vote?

The result will be a combination of public vote and an international jury. Half of the points will be decided by the televising and the other with the help of an international expert jury from 8 countries: Australia, Armenia, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Iceland, Israel and Malta.
