Arilena Ara was this year’s representative of Albania in the Eurovision. Arilena was born on 17 July 1998 in Shkodër, Albania.
She rose to fame to her country through her participation on the second season of the Albanian version of The X-Factor, where she won. In 2016, she competed in the music contest Kënga Magjike and she placed in the third place. Despite her young age, her songs have entered in charts of various eastern European countries. In Romania, she even reached first place! She was also a judge on the third season of the Albanian version of The Voice Kids.
Since 2014, she has released more than 10 singles. She won the 58th edition of Festivali I Këngës and therefore she will represent Albania to Rotterdam this May.
Her original song Shaj, means “Curse”, is composed by Darko Dimitrov and Lazar Cretkovski. The original Albanian lyrics were written by Linda Berisha. The song was revamped and the title changed to Fall From The Sky. The new English lyrics were written by Michael Blue, Robert Stevenson and Sam Schummer.
Albania was going to compete in the second half of the second semifinal.
