Spain 1968

Spain in 1968 original selected Joan Manuel Serrat to represent the country in Eurovision. The selected song was La la la and Joan Manuel wanted to sing it in the Catalan language. Due to the political situation of the country – Franco’s dictatorship – didn’t allow the song to be perform in any other language than Spanish. A week before the final Massiel was asked to replace Joan Manuel. The song performed in Spanish by Massiel, who eventually won and gave the country its first victory.
