Spain
Spain debuted in the contest in 1961. Since then, it has participated 59 times, never missing the event.
The country is part of the “Big 5”, so its prequalified to the grand final. The country has topped the scoreboard on 2 contests (1968 and 1969) and placed in the Top-10 28 times!Its worst result came in 2017 when it finished 26th with 5 points. The country has also placed last in 1962, 1965 and 1983 with no points at all. It is noteworthy that two out of the three times a country has allowed to perform again were from Spain (1990, 2010).
Spain As A Prequalified Country
The first semifinal of Eurovision took place in 2004. Spain placed 10th in a field of 24. Since then the country ten times placed between the 21th and 26th place. Slightly better the country scored three times between 11th and 20th place. The last 16 years the country placed in the Top-10 three times in 2004, 2012 and in 2014 – in all three occasions it placed 10th.
Spain In 2020
This year Italy was going to be represented by Blas Cantó with the song “Universo”. After the cancellation of the contest it was announced that the artist will return in the 2021.
