There are a number of songs that was selected to represent some countries in the contest, but for a variety of reasons the songs never made it to the Eurovision stage. In this series of posts we are going to remind you some of these songs.
San Marino 2012
San Marino in 2012 original selected Valentina Monetta and her song “Facebook Uh, Oh, Oh”. The EBU rejected the song for violating the contest’s rules. Under the article 1.2.2. of the contest no song can contain commercial messages of any kind. The public television of San Marino was given a week to either change the title of the song and problematic lyrics or change the selected entry. On 22 March 2012, a day prior to the EBU’s deadline SMRTV released a revised version under the title “The Social Network Song (OH OH – Uh – OH OH)”. The song placed 14th in its semi.
