National Final Reminder: Sergey Lazarev – The Flyer!

We continue the National Final Reminder with something from 2008. Today, we will travel to Russia.

Russia back in 2008 decided its representative through Evrovidenie. Twenty-seven songs participated in the final of the national selection.

The song “The Flyer” was one of those 27 songs performed by Sergey Lazarev. The song placed 4th in the final.

Sergey Lazarev

Sergey was born on 1st of April 1983, in Moscow, Russia. When Sergey was young he practised artistic gymnastics. At the age of 10, he started acting and singing. By the of 14, he had already won his first award. In 2006 he was a contestant on the Russian version of Dancing On Ice and finished second. Two years later, he competed once again in a show named Circus Of The Stars finishing first. In 2016 he competed in Eurovision, finishing first in the televoting, but only third after all, behind Ukraine and Australia. His song his choreography was by F. Evangelinos. Sergey was the second artist that competed twice for Russia. Dima Bilan was the first (2006, 2008). In 2018, Sergey competed again with a song by the same team. “Scream” once again placed 3rd with 370 points.
