Introduction

Country of the month is back. We decided to continue our series of articles “Country Of The Month” with Slovenia. In a period of four weeks, we are going to remind you of the best Slovenian entries. Note: we selected the entries not by their place in their final, but by their impact on the fans.

Maraaya – Here For You

In 2015, Slovenia selected Maraaya and their song “Here For You” to sent in Vienna. The song is entirely in English.

It was composed by Raay and Marjetka Vovk. The lyrics of the song were written by Raay and Charlie Mason. At the final, the entry placed 14th with 39 points.

Maraaya is a duo from Slovenia that consists of the real-life couple Raay and Marjetka Vovk. The duo was formed in 2014 and has been co-writer and producer of a variety of Slovenian songs. Some of their songs have been used to represent the nation in Eurovision – both junior and adult versions. Maraaya hasn’t released any studio album yet, however, they have released many singles. Two of their singles has topped the national charts. In 2020, the couple released two singles with “Drevo” being their most recent one.

Slovenia in the Eurovision
🇸🇮

Slovenia debuted in the contest in 1993. Since then, it has participated 25 times, missing the contest in 1994 and 2000. Both times the country didn’t participate due to its poor results to the contest. Under those year’s rules, the countries with the worst results were unable to compete the next year.

Slovenia has placed in the Top-10 just three times. Also, it hasn’t qualified to the final on eight times – one of them coming last. The best entry of the country was in 1995 when the country got 84 points and placed 7th in the final. In contrast, Slovenia’s worst result in a final was 2014’s 25th place.

What do you think about the song? Do you like it? Do you think is it one of the most memorable entries from Slovenia? Let us know in the comment box below.
