This year Azerbaijan is going to be represented by Efendi. The singer was born on 17 April 1991, in Baku, Azerbaijan. Her full name is Samira Azer gizi Efendiyeva, but she is known as Samira Efendi or just Efendi.
She has participated in three different competitions in her country, since 2009. Her most notable work was her participation in the Azeri version of The Voice in 2015, where she placed third. She has represented twice her country in international singing competitions in Kazakhstan, one of which she placed third. In 2019 she released three singles. Last year, she was internally selected to represent her country at the contest with the song “Cleopatra”. After the cancellation of the contest, it was announced that she will represent Azerbaijan in 2021.
Her song “Mata Hari” is composed by Amy van der Wel, Luuk van Beers, Josh Earl and Tony Cornelissen.
The song is going to compete in the second half of the first semifinal.
