Ireland this year chose Lesley Roy as its 2021 representative. Lesley was born on September 17, 1986 in Dublin, Ireland.
She first signed with an Irish label in 2006. Her debut album “Unbeautiful” was released in 2008 and reach the 5th place on US Top Heatseekers Charts. She soon focused mainly on songwriting. As a songwriter, she has given songs to international artists like Adam Lambert, Miss Montreal and Jana Kramer. In total, she has released eight singles and has written more than 10 songs for other artists. On March 2020, she was announced as the next Irish artist for Rotterdam. Her song “Story Of My Life” managed to reach the 12th position in the Irish Homegrown charts. After her 2020 entry she released one more single titled “Gold”. Last December, it was announced that she will have a second chance to the contest after last year’s cancellation.
Her entry “Maps” was released on February 26 and was composed by Lesley Roy, Lukas Hällgren, Philip Strand, Normandie, Deepend and Emelie Eriksson. The song entered the official Irish charts – her first song to do so – and reached the 76th place.
Ireland is going to compete 7th in the first half of the first semifinal.
