A couple of hours ago, the second day of rehearsals came to an end. The last of the second semifinal’s acts rehearsed at the Rotterdam Ahoy.
Elena Tsagrinou was the first to perform today in this year’s Eurovision stage. Elena wears a silver dress and she is accompanied on stage by four female dancers. All of the dancers wears red latex suits. For the most part of the performance there is a giant mirror on the background. Cyprus delivered a good first rehearsal.
TIX and his “Fallen Angel” performance was pretty the same with the national final. Of Course, the dancers were reduced to four in order to comply with the ESC rules. The outfits remained the same with the national performance.
Albina also performed on the stage today. She kept the four dancers from the national final and the same colours (purple and blue). However, in contrast with the Dora performance, the outfits were more revealing and more futuristic.
Hooverphonic from Belgium rehearsed for the first time on stage. Two more people joined the three-member group on stage – one drummer and one backing singer – all wearing black outfits. The lead singer stared in the camera quite a few times throughout the performance. In the clip above, you can see the background playing a video of Geike’s face, reminding me the majority of the 2017 entries.
Eden managed to perform four rehearsals in just 30 minutes. Her vocals was perfect and the dancers were perfectly synchronised. Eden made a dress-change during the song, but I have to admit her dresses weren’t what I except it… I found them “safe” options and not something extraordinary.
Roxen’s rehearsals were similar to what she gave us during her video clip. She is accompained by five dancers and we even saw some extra fog on the stage. Although, I have to admit that I’m a bit unimpressed by the overall staging.
Azerbaijan plays with graphics and lights. Efendi and her four dancers all wears similar black outfits. The singer managed to hit every note and perform a simple dance routine like her video clip.
Ukraine has a very unique staging with all ht performers being very active throughout the song. The four-member group has added two dancers on stage with them. The lead singer wears a black outfit with a green feathery jacket. Everyone else are in white.
Destiny from Malta got all our attention due to her pink outfit. The four female dancers wear matching outfits. Her vocals was as expected perfect, but I miss some more moves by Destiny.
Tomorrow, the first nine countries of the second semifinal – San Marino, Estonia, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Poland, Moldova, Iceland and Serbia – will perform their songs for the first time on the Eurovision stage.
