The sixth day of rehearsals took place today. Malta, half of the competing entries of the 2nd semifinal – San Marino, Estonia, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Poland, Moldova, Iceland and Serbia – performed their songs for the second time on the Eurovision stage. Moreover, the prequalified entries sang for the first time in Rotterdam.
Despite liking the first outfit, I think that her second dress today really suits the staging more. Destiny in silver make her stand out from the dancers! I don’t know about her boots, with the pink dress were perfect, but I’m not sure about the silver one. Malta is definitely going to qualify, liking it or not… just listen her singing skills!
San Marino 🇸🇲
Senhit is messing with us… Just look the clip above and watch the FLO RIDA photos on her “hat”! San Marino has secured a spot in the final, the song, her voice, the FLO RIDA surprise… everything indicate success!
A good song, a simple appearance and a good voice… that’s it! The song is too forgettable for this year’s contest! I like the song and I listen to it, but probably it won’t qualify.
Czech Republic 🇨🇿
Benny owns the stage. He sings and dances like his in his home! He tried to wear a pair of glasses during his first run. I believe Czech Republic will qualify to the final, but I would be really hard for it to enter the TOP-10.
An nice idea and a nice song, but as you can see from the video above, there are issues with the green screen effect. I hope until the semifinal, this issue to be resolved. If everything go according to plan, Greece has chances for a Top-10 placing.
I still believe it will be hard for him to qualify coming after Greece. However, Vincent knows how to move around the stage. I prefer more his 2021 entry than the 2020, because he can show his vocal abilities. In his rehearsal, today, he was powerful and energetic.
I don’t know what Poland is doing with its staging. I mean if you take a look at the video above you can see the pyrotechnics get between the camera and Rafał, making it a little uncomfortable. I think without the pyro it would be nicer. Still doesn’t believe Poland will join the qualifier’s club of the second semifinal.
Someone attended many dance rehearsals and its obvious. Natalia and the dancers are perfectly synchronised. Moldova is between the entries I’m not 100% sure for their qualification, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Natalia qualifies.
Iceland was the clear winner for last year’s contest, but in 2021 that isn’t the situation. The song will be voted by many fans, mostly because of the smile that gives you when you watch it. Iceland will qualify, but I cannot see him winning.
Hurricane give everything they have on stage and that is obvious. However, I still believe the performance needed a few dancers, but that doesn’t affect Serbia’s qualification.
Sometimes I caught myself thinking what Italy will do if it wanted to win… The songs the country sends are always catchy and interesting, while the staging is simple but decent. I love Måneskin’s entry… the vocals of the first rehearsal were perfect and the use of pyro is obvious.
Find me a more cheerful and energetic artist from this year’s contest… I think you can’t! Jendrik enjoys every second of his performance and his song is funny – in a good way – and with a nice meaning!
The Netherlands 🇳🇱
The Dutches find a good way to present their entry. The entry is not a winner for me and maybe it wouldn’t qualify to the final, if the Netherlands wasn’t hosting the contest. Jeangu is accompanied by two backing vocalist – the one is his twin brother – and one dancer. All four artists on stage dance and are well synchronised. I like the colourful background and I’m interested by the outfits.
France is taking it down to simplicity this year. Besides playing with some graphics – similar to the national final ones. The song is currently topped based on the odds and it could win. Simplicity has worked for many winners in the past… don’t look far than 2019’s Duncan victory. Nevertheless, I still have my doubts that the contest will move in Paris next year.
United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Some broadcaster broke its piggy bag! The staging has huge props (just watch the clip above). The vocals are nice and the whole staging is enjoyable. The outfits are just good… The United Kingdom might finish in the Top-15 in the final, but I’ll be surprised if it reach the Top-10.
Last rehearsal of the day comes from Spain. Blas shocked me in a good way. A nice moon at the background, fog on the floor and a sentimental song. However, it will be hard for Blas to achieve a respectful place on the final.
That’s the end of a really busy day.
Tomorrow, the remaining competing entries of the 2nd semifinal – Georgia, Albania, Portugal, Bulgaria, Finland, Latvia, Switzerland and Denmark – will perform their songs for the second time on the Eurovision stage.
