We continue our series of articles “Country Of The Month” with Luxembourg. In a period of five weeks, we are going to remind you of the best entries of Luxembourg. Note: we selected the entries not by their place in their final, but by their impact on the fans.

Lara Fabian – Croire

In 1988, Luxembourg selected Lara Fabian and her song “Croire” to sent in Dublin, Ireland. The song is entirely in French.

It was composed by Jacques Cardona, while the lyrics were written by Alain Garcia. Conductor of the live performance was Régis Dupré. At the final, the entry placed 4th with 90 points.

Lara Fabian was born on 9 January 1970 in Etterbeek, Belgium. Her full name is Lara Sophie Katy Crokaert. She performs in nine languages and is one of the best-selling Belgian artists with more than 21 million records sold worldwide.


Luxembourg in the Eurovision 🇱🇺

Luxembourg debuted in the contest in 1956 at the very first version of the contest. The Grand Duchy lastly appeared at the contest in 1993, having competed for 37 times. During its participating years the country missed the contest only once in 1959.

Luxembourg has placed in the Top-10 twenty two times. However, in 1958 the country placed 9th in a last place tie. Having left the contest since 1993, Luxembourg hasn’t competed in any semifinal. Luxembourg won the contest five (1961, 1963, 1972, 1973 and 1983). Contrary, the country placed last three times, one of which with no points at all (1970).
