
Earlier today, Rai – the Italian public broadcaster – revealed the 22 artists that will compete in the upcoming Sanremo festival.
The 72nd edition of the Sanremo Music Festival is Italy’s biggest music event. The winner of this festival is given the chance to represent the country to Eurovision. This year’s show will be held on Ariston Theatre – as usual – between 4th and 8th of February.
The 22 artists will be competing in the Big Artists category and among them is two former Eurovision participants.

Returning Artists
Among the participants you can notice not only some returning artists to the Italian music festival, but also Italian representatives. Emma Marone (Italy 2014), Fabrizio Moro (Italy 2018), Mahmood (Italy 2019), Iva Zanicchi (Italy 1969), Gianni Morandi (Italy 1970) and Massimo Ranieri (Italy 1971, 1973) have all of them participated in both Sanremo and Eurovision. Noemi, La Rappresentante di Lista, Le Vibrazioni, Achille Lauro, Giusy Ferreri and Irama have participated in Sanremo in the past and Elisa actually won the show in 2001.
