MGP 2022: Guide for the Final!

This Saturday, the final of the Norwegian national final will take place.

Ten songs will compete in order to win the Norwegian ticket for Turin!

How it works

On each semifinal, the four competing entries were allocated in two duels. The winner of each duel continued to the second phase of the show. The remaining two wuold once again sing their songs and a new voting would determinate the winner. Only one was qualified to the the final. Although, the three non qualified entires were still able to hope for qualification at the Second chance round.

The Norwegian national final this year consisted of four semifinals and one second chance show. At each semifinal – including the second chance round – a prequalified to the final artist presented its entry. A total of 10 entries will compete in the final.

1. Oda Gondrosen – Hammer Of Thor

Oda Gondrosen was born in Fredrikstad, Norway. She is a singer and songwriter that has participated in the past in both the Norwegian versions of Idol and The Voice. After that she pursued a career as a nurse, finding music industry a tough place. In 2020, she competed again in Idol and managed to place 3rd. She currently is devoted to her music career. Her song is co-composed by Elsie Bay (Elsa Søllesvik), a fellow competitor at MGP that is pre-qualified for the final.

2. Northkid – Someone

NorthKid is a Norwegian pop band that was formed in 2017. The band consists of Bilal Saab (vocals), Helge Moen (synth), Håkon Guttormsen (guitarist), Sebastian Willassen (drummer) and Vegard Olaussen (bassist).

3. Anna-Lisa Kumoji – Queen Bees

Anna-Lisa Kumoji was born in 1990. She is a Norwegian singer, songwriter and actress. She has play in a various of musicals. In 2019, she participated in Melodi Grand Prix. Her song “Hallo” managed to place fourth. This year she will participate for the second time.

4. Farida – Dangerous

Farida Bolseth Benounis or simply Farida is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her career started in 2016, when she released her first two singles. Her MGP participation will be her first.

5. Sofie Fjellvang – Made Of Glass

Sofie Fjellvang is a young artist from Kristiansand, Norway. She is a singer and songwriter. In 2021, she managed to reach the final of the Norwegian The Voice. Her MGP entry is co-composed by Kjetil Mørland (Norway 2015). Sofie is currently working on her debut EP.

6. Frode Vassel – Black Flowers

Frode Vassel was born in Bergen but he has lived for years in Oslo. In 2021, he competed in the Norwegian version of the voice. In the past he has also been a backing vocalist in three Norwegian entries (2017, 2018, 2019).

7. Christian Ingebrigtsen – Wonder Of The World

Christian Ingebrigtsen is a Norwegian singer and songwriter having a successful career both as a solo artist and as part of the boyband A1. Is noteworthy that the band has also won a Grammy Award. In the past he has co-composed song for Eurovision national finals including Ulrikke’s “Attention” in 2020.

8. Maria Mohn – Fly

Maria Mohn was born on May 29, 1983, in Noway. She is a singer, pianist and songwriter. She commence her solo career in 2010, when she released her debut album. She debuted in MGP, in 2020, when she sang along with Kim Wigaard.

9. Subwoolfer – Give That Wolf a Banana

Subwoolfer is a Norwegian duo that was formed in 2021. Their first appearance in public was in early 2022, during the artists presentations for MGP. The two singers have kept their identities secret and referred to themselves as Keith and Jim. The fictional background story dates the formation of the duo 4.5 billion years ago and that their aim is to conquer the planets musically. The duo has a contract with Universal music.

10. Elsie Bay – Death Of Us

Elsie Bay is the stage name of Elsa Søllesvik a 25-year-old singer and songwriter from Haugesund. She rose to fame as part of the duo Elsie & Emilie. In 2021, she co-composed “Witch Woods” for MGP. This year, except of her entry “Death Of Us”, she has also co-compose “Hammer Of Thor”.
