Finland in the Eurovision 🇫🇮
Finland debuted in the contest in 1961. Since then, it has participated 54 times, missing the contest in 1970, 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001 and 2003. In 1970, the country boycotted the contest due to the fact that the prior year four countries won. The other five times that Finland didn’t participate was due to its poor results to the contest. Under those year’s rules, the countries with the worst results were unable to compete the next year.
The country was considered by many the most under-scored country in the contest until its 2006 victory. Prior to this, Finland had scored last eight times, with its 1982 entry finishing with no points at all. Today, the country has placed in the Top-10 just eleven times. Also, it hasn’t qualified to the final on eight times – two of them coming last.
