Introduction

We continue our series of articles “Country Of The Month” with Sweden. In a period of four weeks, we are going to remind you the most memorable Swedish entries.

Sanna Nielsen – Undo

In 2014, Sweden selected Sanna Nielsen and her song “Undo” to sent in Copenhagen. The song was composed by Fredrik Kempe, David Kreuger and Hamed “K-One” Pirouzpanah. Sanna qualified for the final, where it placed 3rd with 218 points.

Sanna Viktoria Nielsen or simply Sanna Nielsen was born on November 24, 1984 in Edenryd, Sweden. She is a Swedish singer, songwriter and TV presenter. Her career dates back in the 90s, but became known to the European audience by competing in the Swedish national final, Melodifestivalen, seven times between 2001 and 2014. In 2014, her entry “Undo” won the national selection process and thus represented Sweden at Eurovision. At the contest, Sanna placed 3rd in the final. She has hosted Melodifestivalen in the past and has also been a commentator of Eurovision. Since 2016, she is the presenter of the Swedish show “Allsång på Skansen”. Sanna has released 8 studio albums and 26 singles.

Sweden in the Eurovision 🇸🇪

Sweden debuted at the contest in 1958 with the song “Lilla stjärna” by Alice Babs. Her entry finished 4th with 10 points.

From 1958 until today Sweden has participated in a total of sixty times, missing the contest three times – 1964, 1970, 1976. From the 60 contest, the country has missed the finals only one time, in 2010. Its entry “This Is My Life” by Anna Bergendahl finished 11th and missing the qualification for just 5 points. The country has won six times in 1974, 1984, 1991, 1999, 2012 and 2015.

Sweden has achieved the Top-10 forty-one times, six times the 1st, one time the 2nd place and six times the 3rd. It has also placed one time 6th, two times in 4th and 9th place, four times 7th and 8th, five times 10th and ten times in the 5th place. Its worst result in the final is the last place, two times, one of which with no points at all (1963), whilst in the semis, it has finished 11th with 62 points in 2010.
