ESC 2022: Meet Sheldon Riley From Australia!

This year Australia selected Sheldon Riley to represent it at Eurovision. Sheldon was born on March 14, 2000, in Sydney, Australia to an Australian mother and a Filipino father. His real name is Sheldon Hernandez, but he is known as Sheldon Riley.

His career started in 2016, when he auditioned for the Australian version of X-Factor. Initially he auditioned solo, but after his elimination, he returned in the contest as part of the boyband “Time and Place”. The band was eliminated at the first live.

Two years later, he competed in the Australian version of The Voice, where he managed to place third at the final of the show. In 2019, he competed again in the “All Stars” version of the show. This time he was eliminated in the semifinal. In addition, in 2020, he auditioned for America’s Got Talent.

Earlier this year, he entered the Australian national final for Eurovision and won the show with his song “Not The Same”.

His song is composed by Sheldon Riley Hernandez and Cam Nacson. It is noteworthy that “Not The Same” has reached the 3rd place on the Australian Indie charts.

The song will perform 8th in the second semifinal.
