Portugal this year chose MARO as its 2022 representative. MARO was born October 30, 1994, in Lisbon, Portugal. Her full name is Mariana Brito da Cruz Forjaz Secca, but is known simply as Maro.

Despite her initial thoughts on becoming a vet she decided to pursue a musical career. Therefore, she studied at Berklee College of Music. With a number of singles, one EP and five studio albums.

Earlier this year, she competed in the Portuguese national final, Festival da Canção, with her song “Saudade, Saudade” and won the show. The song is composed by MARO and John Blanda. It is noteworthy that the entry reached the 4th place at the Portuguese charts.

Portugal will perform 10th in the first semifinal.
