EBU has announced that the Canadian version of Europe’s favourite contest will premier in 2023!
After the American version of the contest, which premiered a couple of weeks ago, now Eurovision is heading to the Canadian market. The Canadian version of ESC will premier in 2023. At the contest the 10 Canadian provinces will compete along with 3 territories.
Canada is somewhat familiar with the Eurovision concept. Back in 1987 was the first American country to take part at a Eurovision event and the only associate member of EBU to do so, until Australia’s participation at Eurovision in 2015.
It is also noteworthy that artists from Canada have participated at Eurovision in the past. Canadian singer Céline Dion won Eurovision in 1988 representing Switzerland. More recently Swiss-Canadian artist Rykka represented also Switzerland in 2016.
