San Marino this year chose Achille Lauro as its ESC representative. Achille Lauro was born on July 11, 1990, in Verona, Italy. His real name is Lauro De Marinis, but he is widely known as Achille Lauro.

In 2012, he released his first two mixtapes online. Then he signed with a record label and released his debut album in 2014. A year later, he released his second studio album, which reached 19th place on the Italian charts. In 2016, he created his own record label and released his third studio album, which reached 22nd place on the charts.

In 2017, he signed with Sony Music and released his fourth studio album, peaking at the 4th place on the charts. In 2019, he competed in the Sanremo Music Festival and placed 9th. After his Sanremo participation, he released his fifth studio album, reaching 3rd place on the local charts.

In 2020, he competed again in Sanremo, this time placing 8th. Nevertheless, his Sanremo song “Me ne frego” was certified two times platinum. The same year, it was announced that he would be the new Chief Creative Director of Elektra Records – part of Warner Music Italy. Moreover, he released two new albums in 2020 “1990” and “1920”, with the first one topping the Italian charts. In 2021, he released his latest album, “Lauro”, which topped the charts.

Earlier this year, he competed again in Sanremo. At his 3rd appearance, he sang the song “Domenica”. The song placed 14th at the festival but reached 10th place on the charts. Soon after Sanremo came to an end, San Marino invited Achille to take part at its national final Una Voce Per San Marino. Achille entered the show with his song “Stripper” and won it. Thus he gained the right to represent San Marino in ESC.

His entry “Stripper” is composed by Gregorio Calculli (Greg), Marco Lanciotti (Lancs), Matteo Ciceroni (Gow Tribe) and Mattia Cutolo (Banf), whilst the lyrics were written by Lauro De Marinis (Achille Lauro), Daniele Dezi, Daniele Mungai, Davide Petrella, Federico De Marinis, Francesco Viscovo and Simon Pietro Manzari.

San Marino will perform 7th in the second semifinal.
