The Netherlands starts searching for its next Eurovision star!

AVROTROS, the Dutch public broadcaster, opened the submissions for Eurovision. The submission window will stay open until the end of August. The usual criteria for Eurovision should be met – the song must be less than three minutes long and not commercially released prior to September 1st. Moreover, each candidate can submit up to three songs.

The broadcaster also released a description of what it is looking for:

The selection committee aims for an entry with preferably a contemporary, but in any case authentic sound. A song that is able to survive in a competition. By a Dutch artist who can and wants to present a personal song in a distinctive way, in any genre, and if possible a personal story.

You can read the full message of the broadcaster in both English and Dutch here!

We remind you that this year the Netherlands placed 11th with 171 points. The country was represented by S10 and her song “De Diepte”.
