ESC 2023: Spain – Benidorm Fest Dates Announced!

Mark your calendars! Benidorm Fest 2023’s dates have been announced!

It has been already announced that Benidorm Fest will return in 2023 as the Spanish national final for Eurovision. According to the Spanish national final, the music festival will consist once again by three shows – 2 semifinals and a final. The first semi is scheduled for January 31, the second for February 2, whilst the final for February 4.

Benidorm Fest was originally based on Festival Español de la Canción de Benidorm, which was broadcasted between 1958 and 2006. The show returned in 2022 with three show and 13 contestants, who tried to gain the right to represent Spain at Eurovision. The show, it is not only responsible for finding the next Spanish representative, but also to promote and celebrate the Spanish music. The original agreement between RTVE and the Valencian Community will run the show at least until 2026.

The upcoming edition of the show will face a couple of changes, including the number of participants. Instead of 13 artists, the show now will consist of 16. One thing that stays, it’s the voting system – professional jury (50%), demoscopic jury (25%) and public televoting (25%).

The submission period will be between September 1 and October 10. Moreover, one of the hosts of the next version of the festival will be Mónica Naranjo.

Spain In Eurovision 2022

Earlier this year, Chanel won Benidorm Fest and represented her country in Eurovision. Her song “SloMo” was a success and managed to place 3rd with 459 points – the best Spanish place since 1995.
