EBU announced that the United Kingdom will be the host country of the Eurovision 2023!
Back in May, Ukraine won Eurovision, but despite the country’s intentions to host the contest, EBU didn’t agree due to the ongoing war. The United Kingdom as this year’s runner-up was next on EBU’s list of potential host nations.
Today, it was confirmed that the United Kingdom will be the next year’s host country. According to the announcement the search for the city will begin this week. The United Kingdom has hosted the contest 8 times – that’s a Eurovision record. In the past, BBC – the British public broadcaster – organised the contest despite not being the winner of the previous year (1960, 1963, 1970, 1974).
It is noteworthy, that people form the Ukrainian broadcaster will be part of the organise team in order to ensure that there will be Ukrainian elements on the show. Moreover, Ukraine will be a pre-qualified act to the final along the Big-5.
