Systur
Systur, which means “Sisters” in Icelandic, is a girl band that was formed in 2011.
The three-member band consists of sisters Sigríður (Sigga), Elísabet (Beta) and Elín Eyþórsdóttir. Prior to their current name, it was also know as Sigga, Beta & Elín and Tripolia. The artists come from a musical family. Their mother is singer and they father a keyboardist.
Originally, the trio started its career as part of Sísý Ey. The sisters stayed in the group until 2017, when they released their first single as a trio. Earlier this year, Systur competed in the Icelandic national final. Their entry “Með hækkandi sól”, which means “With the rising sun”, won the show and therefore the right to represent Iceland at Eurovision.
Their entry was composed by Lovísa Elísabet Sigrúnardóttir and topped the local charts. At the contest, they managed to qualify, where they placed 23rd with 20 points.
