Sweden 2023: Melodifestivalen – Guide For Heat 3!

Sweden’s national selection method continues this Saturday. The show will last 6 weeks – 4 Heats, one Semifinal (former Second Chance) and a Final. During the four Heats, we will see the 28 acts but only 12 will make it to the final.

Heat 3

Seven acts will try to win one of the two tickets for the Final. Those who will place third and fourth they’ll have a second chance on March 4, at the Semifinal.

1. Paul Rey – Royals

Paul Rey was born on 23 May 1992, in Lund, Sweden. His birth name is Pauli Jokela to a Chilean mother and Finnish father. He started singing from a young age. In 2015, he signed a contract with an American music company and in 2017, he released his single “California Dreaming”, which features Snoop Dog and Arman Cekin. In 2020, he debuted in Melodifestivalen with the song “Talking In My Sleep”, with which he reached the final and placed 6th. In 2021, he competed again with his song “The Missing Piece”, which placed 12th in the final. The same year, he also released his latest EP.

2. Casanovas – Så kommer känslorna tillbaka

Casanovas is a Swedish band that dates back in 1989. The current members are: Henrik Sethsson, Jimmy Lindberg , Stefan Ryding, Hans Plahn. The band has released 10 studio albums and multiple singles.

3. Melanie Wehbe – For The Show

Melanie Wehbe is a Swedish singer and songwriter. In the past, she has composed many songs for both Swedish and international artists. In addition, a number of her compositions have been awarded. Melanie is also familiar with Eurovision: two of her entries has managed to win national finals (Denmark 2019, Sweden 2020). Her participation is her first in the show as a singer.

4. Nordman – Släpp alla sorger

Nordman is a Swedish duo that was formed in 1994. The duo consists of Håkan Hemlin and Mats Wester. In the past, they have competed in Mello in 2005 and 2008. They have a rich discography of 8 studio albums and many singles.

5. Laurell – Sober

Laurell Barker or simply Laurell is a singer and songwriter. She is from Canada, but currently lives in Sweden. She is known for composing entries for multiple national finals and for Eurovision. Her first national final entry was in 2017. Since then she has composed songs for 10 countries (NFs of United Kingdom, Lithuania, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Germany, Poland, Denmark, Serbia, Croatia). She has also composed six different entries for Eurovision. In 2019, she became the first female composer to have three songs in a single Eurovision event.

This year, she decided to compete as a singer and thus she will make her debut in Melodifestivalen with “Sober”.

6. Ida-Lova – Låt hela stan se på

Ida-Lova gained fame in Sweden after appearing on a television program in 2017. Since then, she has released a number of singles. Now, she is ready for her Melodifestivalen debut.

7. Marcus & Martinus – Air

Marcus & Martinus are a duo that consists of twin Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen. The two brothers are from Norway and were introduced to their public, through their participation in Melodi Grand Prix junior in 2012, where they won. Today, the duo is known internationally, with their songs being charted in multiple countries.

Their discography numbers 5 studio albums – all topped the Norwegian charts – and many singles. Instead of entering their countries national final, the twins chose the Swedish one.
