ESC 2023: Meet Luke Black From Serbia!

Serbia this year chose Luke Black as its 2023 representative. Luka Black was born on May 18, 1992, in Čača, Serbia. His birth name is Luka Ivanović, but he is known professionally as Luke Black.

After completing his studies in Belgrade, he decided to move to the United Kingdom, where he got his master’s degree in music production. He soon was noticed by people of Universal Music. He released his debut single, “Nebula Lullaby”, in 2014.

In 2015, Luke released his debut EP, while the following year submitted his single “Demons” as a proposal for Eurovision, but without being selected. In 2018, he released his second EP, “Neoslavic”, which also included, among others, his 2016 Eurovision proposal. His 3rd EP was released this year and is titled “F23.8”.

Earlier this year, he was among the artists who would compete in the Serbian national final for Eurovision “Pesma za Evroviziju ’23”. His entry “Samo mi se spava”, which means “I just want to sleep”, won the show, thus representing his country at the contest. The song is composed by Majed Kfoury, COMANAVAGO, Luke Black and Milovan Bošković.

It is noteworthy that the song has entered the Croatian charts.

Serbia will perform in the first half of the first semifinal.
