This year Belgium selected Gustaph as its Eurovision representative. Stef Caers, known professionally as Gustaph, was born on July 5, 1980, in Leuven, Belgium.
He began his career by releasing his debut single in 2000. His song, “Gonna Lose You”, entered the Flemish charts and a second single was later released. Following these two songs, he focused on composing and producing music. That decision came after being told to hide his sexuality from the public in order to pursue a career as a singer.
He is not new to the Eurovision world. In 2018 and 2021, he was a back vocalist for the Belgian entries at Eurovision.
This year, he decided to compete in the Belgian national selection. Under the selection’s format, he took part with two songs, “The Nail” and “Because of You”, with the latter one entering the live final. He eventually won the show, with the single reaching 3rd place in the Flemish charts.
The song was composed by Stef Caers and Jaouad Alloul.
Belgium will perform 5th in the second semifinal!
