A couple of hours ago, the first day of rehearsals began. The first 10 acts of the first semifinal will perform for the first time on the Eurovision stage. Like last year, all the 1st rehearsals are closed to the press. However, people can watch a glimpse of the rehearsals through the official TikTok account of Eurovision.
Norway ๐ณ๐ด
The first artist to take the stage today is Alessandra from Norway. Her performance is kept the same as her national final one. She wears a similar green outfit, but a bit more elegant. She has four backing dancers, who wear some black outfits with golden touches. The dancers, like in MGP, use the glow sticks in the last part of the song. Her voice sounds amazing, despite the quality of the video.
MALTA ๐ฒ๐น
The second act to perform on stage are The Busker. The Maltese representatives wear similar outfits in the MESC. At some point, they change their normal sweaters into glittery ones – you can actually watch the changing part in the TikTok video below. The vocals are really good and it seems that the Maltese broadcaster invested in the props of their staging. As we can see, they have made some kind of rooms – full of colours, matching the uplifting vibes of the song. There is one party room with pictures of past Maltese Eurovision participants, some sort of a road with a bench, the front part of a car and a living room.
Serbia ๐ท๐ธ
Luke Black from Serbia is the third act for today. Luke didn’t change his performance for Liverpool, but it looks like he worked more on the details of his song. The big bed-prop is still in the picture and I can understand that it’s the most important thing for the performance, maybe along with the dancers, who are connected to it.
Latvia ๐ฑ๐ป
The next act comes from Latvia. First of all, we got a notification that the band’s outfits haven’t arrived yet, so we don’t get to see the artists performing in them today. Nevertheless, the staging is very simple and is what we expected based on what we got in their previous performances. The vocals sound amazing, but of course, we can only watch a glimpse of their show.
Portugal ๐ต๐น
Portugal is next. Mimicat delivers a mesmerising performance. She is accompanied by four dancers – two females and two males. They are all dressed in red, but the most eye-catching outfit is, for sure, Mimicat’s one. Her dress is full of feathers, which move along her moves. It is noteworthy that there are not any props on stage, even the national final’s sofa is missing.
Ireland ๐ฎ๐ช
Ireland’s performance is next. Wild Youth really seems to trying their best in order to beat the odds. They use a golden prop-stair on stage and there are pyros too. Their outfits were as expected, the same style as their national final’s outfits, but with more glam. The vocals sound good, despite the video’s quality.
Croatia ๐ญ๐ท
Croatiaโs entry is next. The staging is mostly the same as in the national final. The outfits are the same and there is also the same choreography.
Switzerland ๐จ๐ญ
Next is Switzerland. Remo wears a black outfit with some transparent parts. He is accompanied by four dancers – two males and two females – with similar outfits. There are not any props on stage, so the performance is based on Remoโs vocals and the choreography.
Moldova ๐ฒ๐ฉ
Moldovaโs entry is next. Pasha has worked a lot on his performance. There is a mystical vibe throughout his arrangement. On stage, there are five backing dancers. All the performers have unique outfits, which fit the songโs sound.
Sweden ๐ธ๐ช
Last but not least, one of the most anticipated entries of this yearโs contest, is Sweden. Finally, we know that Loreen will keep her LED screen for Liverpool. The screen is a bit smaller, while the base is a bit higher probably in order to be more easily moved in and out of the stage. Moreover, like in Mello, the platform is full of sand. Loreen is wearing the same beige outfit with her long nails. Also, there is smoke on the stage.
Tomorrow, the rest of the first semifinal’s countries – Israel, Azerbaijan, Czechia, Netherlands, Finland – along with the first countries of the second semifinal – Denmark, Armenia, Romania and Cyprus – will perform their songs for the first time on the Eurovision stage.
