A couple of hours ago, the fifth day of rehearsals began. The first participants of the second semifinal (Denmark, Romania, Armenia, Estonia and Belgium) performed for the second time at the arena in Liverpool. This year, not only the first rehearsals but also the second ones are close to the press. However, people can watch a glimpse of them through the official YouTube channel of Eurovision, with a recap of the actual TV footage we will get in the semifinals. It is not clear yet if the video of these rehearsals will be up today or tomorrow.
In addition, the pre-qualified entries of this year’s contest will rehearse for the first time. For these countries, we will get a TikTok video.
You can watch the video below:
Our notes on the second rehearsals (based on the photos of the Eurovision blog and the video above):
- Reiley from Denmark has a change of outfit, actually the addition of a jacket, which is the same colour as his trousers. The takes, where the audience is in the picture are good thought it would be better with two dancers, despite the big prop, mainly in the part when Reiley is singing at the front part of the stage.
- Armenia’s performance seems the same as the 1st rehearsal, through the photos, but it is much better in the video. The graphics are shown really well, but it is possible for the viewer to see the lines between the parts of the prop.
- Theodor from Romania changed his outfit; all the clothes are now pink instead of yellow. Even the socks and the boots are pink, though the socks have a picture of SpongeBob instead of Pikachu. Despite his energy, Theodor looks a bit lonely on stage.
- Estonia’s staging hasn’t any changes, only Alika’s hair is different – comparing them with her hairstyle from the TikTok video. However, the graphics look wonderful and match the colour and style of her outfit.
- Belgium’s entry has also remained the same like a couple of days ago. Watching the clip of the rehearsal is like watching a couple of friends partying.
Germany 🇩🇪
The German performance is energetic. The outfits are like the national final, full of red with golden touches. Moreover, on the stage, there is a lot of red. On the prop, we have two triangles where the drummer and the keyboard player stand. Of course, there are some fire effects.
France 🇫🇷
France is the second country of the pre-qualified acts to perform today. La Zarra wears an outfit similar to the music video. She is dressed in an all-black dress, with some red touches and at her head she wears a hat like the ones she has used us to. The performance begins with La Zarra singing. She is standing high above the ground on a black base, which is hidden with a cloth, making it look like her dress goes all the way down to the floor. At some point, probably when the tempo changes, the end of the dress is removed, with us seeing the base, which has a disco style. At some point, the French flag appears with the help of the background lights and there are some pyros too. At the same time, La Zarra is in the dark, most likely that is the part when she sings the “À chanter la Grande France”.
Italy 🇮🇹
Marco from Italy wears black leather trousers and a sparkling silver vest. The graphics, according to the Eurovision blog, depict clouds – I mean, obviously is an Italian ballad, and we need the melancholic aesthetic in order to get more into the song’s vibe. Moreover, we get some info that there will be a kind of big moon in the graphics, which you can actually see in the TikTok video briefly. The staging completes a fog effect.
Ukraine 🇺🇦
Ukraine performs next. Jeffrey wears a black outfit with golden arms. Andrii wears a black outfit with silver touches and a long silver coat. Both countries wear black sunglasses. The duo is accompanied by two backing dancers who are dressed in black. All the outfits have a golden heart on them. Jeffrey performs in the middle of the stage along with the dancers, while Andrii is occupied with the keyboard in the corner. On the scene, there are four boxes with LED screens – you can see this prop on the Eurovision blog. In the last part of the song, we get some pyros. I feel like the futuristic aesthetic really suits the entry.
Spain 🇪🇸
Spain is the next country to rehearse. Blanca Paloma’s outfit consists of white trousers, white boots and a red top, having a black accessory on her arm too. Along with her, there are five female performers who wear red dresses. The staging resembles the national final performance, but she added a smoke effect. There is a round base, with a smaller one on it, at the top of which Blanca performs. The red curtains are still in the picture. At some point there is a white light on Blanca‘s hand, while everything else goes dark.
United Kingdom 🇬🇧
Last but not least the host country of this year’s contest. Mae from the UK wears black trousers, heels and a semi-transparent blouse. Along with her on stage, there are four dancers – two males and two females – who wear the same outfit, except for the top, which is red. There is a high base on the stage, which has LEDs on it. While she sings on the prop, as the Eurovision blog describes, it is like that happening inside her mind. There are some pyros during the performance too.
That’s the end of today’s rehearsals. Tomorrow, the rest acts of the 2nd semifinal will perform on the Eurovision stage for the second time!
