North Macedonia this year chose Vasil as its 2021 representative. Vasil was born on November 2, 1984 in Strumica, North Macedonia. His full name is Vasil Garvanliev.

He experienced difficulties through his childhood mainly due to the Kosovo War. Along with his family, he moved to the United States in 1997. After a few years, his family was deported from the States, but he managed to stay. He eventually returned to his motherland and wasn’t allowed to return to the U.S.A. Despite that, in 2004 he moved to Canada to study music.

His first attempt to represent North Macedonia in Eurovision was in 2007. He entered the national final, but he didn’t win. Last year was one of Tamara Todevska’s backing vocalists. In January 2020 was announced as the country’s next representative. His entry “YOU” was composed by Nevena Neskoska, Kalina Neskoska and Alice Schroeder. After the contest’s cancellation, Vasil was internally selected to represent the Balkan nation in 2021.

His entry “Here I Stand” was composed by Vasil Garvanliev.

North Macedonia is going to compete 6th in the first semifinal.
