ESC 2024: Meet Iolanda From Portugal!

Portugal this year chose Iolanda as its 2024 representative. Iolanda was born on November 4, 1994, in Figueira da Foz, Portugal. Her full name is Iolanda Costa, but she is better known simply as Iolanda.

Despite showing her talent in music from a young age, she studied Communication Studies. Later, she moved to the Great Britain, where she studied music. As a teenager, she participated in two different Portuguese talent shows. As an adult she competed in the Portuguese version of The Voice.

Her first attempt at the Portuguese national final for Eurovision was in 2022 as a composer. In 2023, she released her debut EP.

Earlier this year, she competed as a singer in the Portuguese national final. Her entry managed to win the show, thus gaining the right to represent her country at Eurovision.

The entry “Grito”, which means “Shout”, is composed by Iolanda Costa and Alberto “Luar” Hernández.

Portugal will perform 14th in the first semifinal.
