ESC 2024: Meet Hera Björk From Iceland!

Iceland this year chose Hera Bkörk as its 2024 representative. Hera Björk Þórhallsdóttir, or simply Hera Björk, was born on March 29, 1972, in Reykjavik, Iceland.

Her first music was released in 1999, before her debut album in 2000. She has released 3 more albums (in 2006, 2010, 2013) and several singles.

Her first Eurovision attempt was in 2009, when she entered the Dansk Melodi Grand Prix – Denmark’s national final for Eurovision. Her entry, “Someday”, placed second, but her song reached the 9th place in the country’s charts. The same year she was a backing vocalist for the Icelandic entry at Eurovision.

In 2010, she entered the Icelandic national final and won. Her song, “Je ne sais quoi”, reached the final of the contest, where it reached the 19th place. Despite placing on the right side of the scoreboard, the song was a chart success, topping in the Icelandic charts and entering on 5 more markets. In 2013, she competed in a song competition in Chile and her song won in the Best Song category.

Earlier this year, she entered the Icelandic national final again. Here managed to won again with her song “Scared of Heights”.

“Scared of Heights” was composed by Ásdís María Viðarsdóttir, Ferras Alqaisi, Jaro Omar and Michael Burek. The song has already entered the local charts.

Iceland will perform 8th in the first semifinal!
