The United Kingdom this year chose Olly Alexander as her representative. Oliver Alexander Thornton, known professionally as Olly Alexander, was born on July 15, 1990, in Harrogate, the UK.

He started his acting career from a young age, before perusing a career as musician. As a singer, he is known as the lead singer of the indie band Years & Years.

Years & Years was a British five members band that was formed in 2010. In 2013, Noel Leeman and Olivier Subria left the band and in 2021 Mikey Goldsworthy and Emre Türkmen also left. Thus the band became a solo project by Olly Alexander.

Their debut single was released in 2012 and their debut album was released in 2015. The album reached the 1st place in UK, Irish and Scottish charts and also the US Dance charts, selling more than one million albums worldwide. In 2018, the 2nd album was released, which was also critically acclaimed. The 3rd album, which is titled “Night Call”was released in 2022 and topped the British charts.

In late 2023, he was internally selected to represent his country at Eurovision. Earlier this year, he released his ESC song. His entry, “Dizzy”, was composed by Oliver Alexander Thornton and Daniel Harle.

The UK is prequalified to the final, while the Brits will also be able to vote in the first semifinal.
