Sweden 2025: Melodifestivalen – Guide For Heat 1!

Sweden’s national selection method kicks-off tonight. The show will last 6 weeks – 5 Heats and a Final. During the four Heats, we will see the 30 acts but only 12 will make it to the final.

Heat 1

Six acts will try to win one of the two tickets for the Final. The one who will place third will have a second chance, at the end of the 5th Heat.

1. Albin Johnsén feat. Pa – Upp i luften

Albin Johnsén was born on July 22, 1989, in Stockholm, Sweden. Hi first single was released in 2013, but he rosed to fame after his collaboration with Kristin Amparo in 2014. In 2015, he composed Behrang Miri’s entry for the Swedish national process for Eurovision, Melodifestivalen, while the following year he competed as a singer. In 2020, he competed again in Mello with the song “Livet börjar nu”.

He has released three studio albums – the most recent one in 2019 – and two EPs, in addition to a number of singles.

Pa or Pa Moudou Badjie is known for being a part of the Swedish band Panetoz. He is one of the original member of the band leader. He is also a studio manager in an addition to his singing career. As part of the Panetoz he has been on the Mello stage three times in 2014, 2016 and 2023. All these times the band qualified to the final, with their best place being the 8th in 2016.

2. Maja Ivarsson – Kamikaze Life

Maja Ivarsson was born on October 2, 1979 in Kristianstad, Sweden. She a singer and a lead vocalist of the band the Sounds.

Her 2025 participation at the Swedish national final will be her first.

3. John Lundvik – Voice of the Silent

John Lundvik was born on January 27, 1983, in London, England. He was adopted when he was just 1 week old, by Swedish that lived in England. He has never met his biological parents. John lived in England till the age of 6, when he moved with his parents to Växjö, Sweden.

Before he succeeded in the music world, he was a sprinter. In 2005 he won a bronze medal in the Swedish Championship.

His musical breakthrough came in 2010 when he composed a song for the Swedish Royal Wedding. In 2016, he composed and performed the Swedish song for the Olympic Games in Rio. The same year, he also performed a duet alongside with Lill Lindfors (Sweden 1966, ESC presenter 1985) at Allsång På Skansen. All these years, he has written music for many artists including Sanna Nielsen (Sweden 2014). His writing talent doesn’t stop here. He has composed music for the well-known American TV series Empire too.

John debuted in Melodifestivalen – Sweden’s national final – in 2018 with the song “My Turn” and finished third in the final. In 2019, he won the whole event, receiving the most points by all the international juries. His song “Too Late For Love”, is of course co-composed by him. Except for the Swedish entry, John was also one of the composers of that year’s United Kingdom’s entry “Bigger Than Us.” At the contest, John placed 2nd in the jury voting and 5th after all with 334 points.

In 2020, John co-composed the French song for Eurovision, before the contest’s cancellation. The same year, he also won the Swedsih version of ”Let’s Dance”. Her first EP, titled “My Turn” was released in 2019. His latest Mello appearance was in 2022, when his song qualified directly for the final once again.

4. Meira Omar – Hush Hush

Meira Omar was born in June 17, 1993, in Sweden. She is a singer, releasing her debut in 2020. In 2024, she participated in the Swedish version of Love is Blind. Tonight she will debut at the national selection.

5. Adrian Macéus – Vår första gång

Adrian Macéus was born on May 3, 2005, in Stockholm, Sweden. He is a Swedish singer and actor. In 2016, he made his theatrical debut, whilst his first single was released in 2018. Tonight, will participate for the first time in Melodifestivalen.

6. Linnea Henriksson – Den känslan

Ellen Linnea Petrea Henriksson or simply Linnea Henriksson was born on November 9, 1986, in Halmstad, Sweden. She rose to fame through her participation in the Swedish version of Idol in 2010, when she placed 4th. It is noteworthy that she was a co-host of Melodifestivalen in 2020.

As a singer, she has released 4 studios albums, the most recent one in 2018, 1 EP and multiple singles.

Tonight will be her first time in Mello.
