
Italy this year chose Måneskin as its 2021 representative. Måneskin is a 4-member rock band from Italy.
Måneskin was formed in Rome in 2016 and consists of Damiano David (vocal), Victoria De Angelis (bass), Thomas Raggi (guitar) and Ethan Torchio (drums). Their name is the danish word for “Moonlight”. In 2017, the group auditioned for the Italian version of The X-Factor. At the final of the show, the band placed second and signed with Sony Music Italy. Their debut EP “Chosen” was released in 2017 and reached 3rd place on the charts. In 2018, the band released their first album, which topped the Italian charts and was certified three times platinum.
This year, Måneskin entered the Festival di Sanremo and won it. Therefore, they will represent Italy in the upcoming ESC. Following their victory, the band released their second album, which once again topped the charts and was certified gold.
Their entry “Zitti e buoni” is composed by Damiano David, Ethan Torchio, Thomas Raggi and Victoria de Angelis. The song reached 2nd place on the Italian charts was certified Platinum. Also, it entered the Swiss charts and the Global Excl. U.S. (Billboard).
Italy will compete directly to the final, but Italians will also be able to vote in the first semifinal.
