Mitch Tambo released his new single, “The Best.” The song is his adaptation of the ’80s classic. This version of the song gives it a fresh and unique take, being performed in Tambo’s traditional Gamilaraay language. This song’s reedition rendition promotes the cultural background of the Australian artist.

The history of the song

“The Best” was composed by Mike Chapman and Holly Knight and produced by Desmond Child. Bonnie Tyler originally performed it, and it was included in her 7th studio album, “Hide Your Heart.” However, “The Best” didn’t perform on the charts, with the only notable exception being Norway, where the song reached 10th place.

A year later, Tina Turner released her version of the song and included it in her 7th album, “Foreign Affair”. Tina’s version became a global success. 

In 1992, Tina Turner and Jimmy Barnes released a duet version of it as “(Simply) The Best”. The song was used to promote the New South Wales Rugby League season.

Mitch Tambo

Mitch Tambo was born in Sydney and currently lives in Melbourne. He has released two studio albums and multiple singles throughout the years. In 2019, he competed at Australia’s Got Talent, reaching the final. That same year, he signed his first contract with Sony Music Australia.

In 2020, he competed in the Australian national final for Eurovision with his song “Together”. The artist placed 5th in a field of 10. Since then, he has released several singles, combining the traditional cultural background with a modern twist.

Throughout 2024, he has performed on 100 stages across Australia on his wildly successful Walanbaa Youth Tour.
